After a great creepy , scary halloween (check out my halloween special read , HERE ) , it was the time for something different .. something breaking , maybe some rules breaking .

I got my hands on the new latest release of Preeti Shenoy’s “The Rule Breakers ” . The cover is really interesting and enticing . A red Duppata spread across the fence . Fence is symbolic for the thin line between being a rule breaker and rule follower (*I’m on the either sides of the fence then).

*This is a spoiler-free review .

BOOK : The Rule Breakers

AUTHOR : Preeti Shenoy

Stars : 3/5

______________________________________

So the story starts with the plightful life of Veda where when she is in Joshimath with parents and her siblings , she wishes to be in the city . City is symbolic of modern thinking . Life gives her or tests her good girl nature time and again . Her destiny takes her to the city , where she now misses her home town Joshimath . Her life becomes like a sharded dream . But hope of light shines between the darkness brightly . And then she takes her life in her hands for a while . Sudden events occur and one day finally ( almost at last ) she speaks up for herself . And then her life becomes what she cared it to be like .

HIGH POINTS

1) Story telling skills are awesome .

2) It is an easy read , and won’t take much long to complete .

LOW POINTS

1) Slow paced and not that much engaging ( I got some pangs of boredom )

3 ) Ending feels surreal .

4) Personally I didn’t liked the character . I think protagonist’s sister side of story was more compelling which was kept at bay .

What are you reading these days ???

Thanks for sharing. I tend to steer clear of any books that don’t make me empathise with or like main characters – I find those books so frustrating! Sounds like this book might be a bit of a miss for me even though it’s a genre I love.

Great review. The book sounds very interesting even if it was a bit slow.
